looking for Info on a realitive

I regestered here over a month ago (as PalmettoPilot) but my account has not been approved yet. However I'm looking for information on a relative of mine, Jerry Cox who was a 29er. I really have no idea where to start. I've been in contact with my cousin but he has trouble remembering things nowdays. anyway here if the info I have gathered.

according to him he was a member of the
116th I Company
175th K & D Companies
I'm not sure of a time frame but I'd like to find out anything I can

I registered so long ago and never got a reply. I stopped worrying about it. I don't think the board admins come here much.

My great-uncle was in D Company 175th Infantry. I have a photocopy of D Co. from 1942 at home. I'll look for your relative's name on it. But it's a grainy photocopy and I know some names are misspelled on the photo caption so no promises. Do you know about when he was in D Co.?

As a first step I recommend looking for your relative's info via this link: aad.archives.gov/aad/fielded-search.jsp?dt=893&tf=F&cat=all&bc=sl

I'll let you do it since it's half the fun. You'll get his enlistment info from there.

The next step would be to request his service records. Also on the NARA website are directions to request his records from the archives. But be warned that the WW2 personnel documents were warehoused in St. Louis and there was a large fire there in 1972. Many of the records were lost.

I looked on a photocopy of a picture of D Company 175th Inf Regt from 1942 when they were at Ft George Meade and I didn't see a Gerald Cox.

I am searching for contact with the next of kin of the below US Soldiers who Killed in action in the WO II.

Thanks Paul, but I'm pretty sure Jerry was a draftee and was not in the 116th until at least 1943.
