66 years ago those brave men stormed the beaches never to return home. Their sacrifice in the liberation of Europe was a turning point in history. We remember all of those who were there on that day and those who fought through to VE Day. God bless them all. 29 Let's Go!

Amen! Right about now, my father and the rest of the 175th were on their LSTs, positioned off Vierville, and were preparing to load onto landing craft for Omaha Beach, which lay in chaos in front of them. Those were some mighty rough times and we should all be thankful for the men who went though them for us.

We marked the 66th Anniversary of D-Day with 2 Rememberance services, our first was at the ww2 U.S. Assault Training Center, North Devon on the 6th June. The second was at Trebah, Cornwall on the 12th June. At the ATC we held a wreath laying service at the concrete dummy training LCT. Two out of six dummy 100 x 32ft LCT,s still stands with one having a Commemorative plaque to all the servicemen who trained at the ATC for D-Day. At Trebah on the 12th June we held a Rememberance service, laying a wreath of poppies on the 29th Div. Rememberance Stone over looking the loading hard. The 29th Division Blue & Grey Flag was flying high on that day over looking the path to Normandy. Rob.

Rob -- thanks for the links. I'll contact Richard Bass and see if he's interested in the narrative of my father's time at the ATC, which he documented fairly well in his letters despite censorship. Gordon
