The US Army D Day Assault Training Center 1943 - 1944, Woolacombe -England is marking its 70th Anniversary on 31st August - 1st September 2013. We have just finished making a full scale replica 33 ft long 2 Tons LCVP in US Navy ATC markings & full scale beach obstacles like the 10ft long 7ft high Belgium gate, Hedgehogs, pillbox . We will be holding a WW2 Beach Assault display on Woolacombe beach with a demolition gap team in action using pyrotechnics followed by an Infantry assault from some of our leading living history groups here in the UK. We will have an M4 Sherman on the beach for first time in 69 years The event is supported by The National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery fund. Bob.

Bob - many thanks for this news. Sure wish I could attend, but to make amends, I will send the Center the narrative of my father's time there with the 175th IR. His letters provide a first-hand glimpse of the training. - Gordon
